    Position Summary

    The Mexican Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's statutory accounting and financial compliance activities in Mexico. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position ensures the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Treasury functions, tax reporting, statutory filings, and financial reporting requirements.

    This role serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors, government agencies, and corporate finance teams regarding Mexican accounting matters. The position is also responsible for supporting government certifications related to customs, fiscal compliance, and other regulatory requirements, while leading continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting department.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience in a maquiladora/manufacturing environment.
    • At least 3-4 years of direct personnel supervisory experience.
    • Bilingual English and Spanish (spoken, written, and verbal communication).
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP, US GAAP, and corporate accounting policies.
    • Comprehensive understanding of Mexican tax regulations, labor obligations, statutory reporting requirements, and government compliance.
    • Experience coordinating and managing external audits.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Accounting & Financial Reporting

    • Oversee all Mexican statutory accounting activities and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
    • Supervise General Ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, procedures, and Financial Shared Practices (FSPs).
    • Support preparation of financial analyses and reports required by management and corporate headquarters.
    • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

     

    Treasury Management

    • Supervise treasury operations, including bank reconciliations, cash management, wire transfers, and payment authorization.
    • Review and approve electronic payments to suppliers and other third parties.
    • Ensure adequate cash availability to support operational requirements.

    Accounts Payable

    • Oversee Accounts Payable processes, including purchase requisition approvals, vendor payments, and electronic funds transfers
    • Review and approve new vendor setups and supporting documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate purchasing policies.

    Tax and Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all Mexican federal, state, and local tax obligations.
    • Coordinate the preparation of annual tax returns with external tax advisors.
    • Maintain compliance with all applicable Mexican government regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Support government certifications related to customs, fiscal compliance, IMMEX, VAT, and other regulatory programs as required.

    Others

    • Supervise weekly payroll processes for both salaried and union employees.
    • Coordinate annual financial statement audits, Social Security audits, tax audits, and other compliance reviews
    • Provide accurate and timely information requested by auditors and regulatory authorities.
