JOB SUMMARY
The designer is responsible for designing packaging solutions in line with the customers’ needs. They work in line with local needs and Corporate Engineering Directive.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate structural requirements, transportation methods, long-term storage, and other specifications
- Support other departments
- Assist with packaging evaluations and designs from other engineers or designers
- Assist in gathering sufficient information to provide drawings
- Create CAD drawings, assembly instructions, and bills of materials
- Assist senior designers with special engineering project assignments
- Help understand material specifications and potential replacement materials as needed
AUTHORITIES
- Define manufacturing routes and the functional arrangement of tooling
- Keep specifications updated as changes occurs
- Authorize and validate samples based on customer requests
- Generate sample and prototype release reports.
- Stop any unsafe acts anywhere in the plant.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Required.
- Project Management Certification considered an asset. Desirable.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with CAD software.
- Experience designing with steel, corrosion-resistant materials, foam, and/or other commercially available materials is considered an asset but is not required.
