PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for the purchase of specific commodities, ensuring that materials, goods, and services purchased meet the established requirements for quality, delivery, and quantity. This role will develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive cost-saving initiatives while ensuring product quality and supply chain reliability.
REPORTS TO: Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Buying & Procurement (approx. 50-60%):
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers in accordance with KAVX guidelines and internal quality requirements.
- Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimize value.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct regular performance reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., lead time reduction, quality enhancements).
Purchase Order Management:
- Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) for raw materials, components, consumables, and services, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Expedite orders as needed to meet production schedules and resolve supply chain disruptions.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and supplier corrective actions (SCARs) related to procured materials.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Generate and analyze supply chain data, including lead times, on-time delivery performance, inventory turns, and cost variances.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management on supply chain performance and initiatives.
II. Planning, Production Scheduling & Inventory Management (approx. 40-50%):
Demand & Supply Planning:
- Develop and execute material requirements plans (MRP) based on production forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to understand demand drivers and refine forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels of the materials to prevent stockouts and minimize obsolescence, adhering to established inventory targets.
Production Scheduling & Execution:
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) by translating sales forecasts and customer orders into actionable production plans for manufacturing lines.
- Work closely with Production Operations to ensure alignment on capacity, labor availability, and material readiness to meet schedule commitments.
- Monitor production progress against the schedule, identify potential deviations, and proactively implement corrective actions or communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders.
- Balance demand requirements with production capacity constraints, raw material lead times, and quality release timelines.
