Responsibilities
• Maximize asset condition and performance through efficient operating practices, effective planning, condition monitoring and scheduling of maintenance
• Manages all related administrative functions including HR, purchasing, finance, sales, customer service and IT according to the Head Office Management, procedures and policies.
• Ensuring that the facility operations are in compliance with Mexican local regulations.
• Establish and maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program for all plant equipment.
• Ensure that all necessary resources to meet production needs are available
• Managing personnel and ensuring the proper quality and quantity of staff members.
• Maintain and foster an environment with great, open communication between the different departments including regular staff meetings.
• Promote a culture of high accountability.
• Develop, report, and analyze appropriate work and process performance measures (KPIs) for each production department.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance through benchmarking and investment in technical knowledge. Preparing and analyzing performance reports to ensure that the operation is performing at an optimal level.
• Oversee plant operations on a day-to-day basis in order to optimize productivity, reduce non-conformances and improve delivery performance
• Ensuring that products are in-house and ready to be shipped on date requested
• Help determining appropriate freight carriers for all TBD orders based on best price and service record.
• Support improvement initiatives on the production floor
• Ensuring that the Facility - internal & external - is kept in good working order, clean and organized and giving the appropriate internal or external mandates if needed.
• Provide a safe and healthy workplace. Ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are applied and approve the appropriate/mandatory trainings to employees.
• Performing inventory audits in conjunction with head office schedule.
• Coach, evaluate and support the people reporting to him. Establish and enforce an excellent training and development program for the staff in the plant.
• Maintaining and improving Quality System in conjunction with Head Office QA Manager as well as any local Quality personnel.
• Ensuring that all manufacturing processes are followed.
• Supervise and work in close collaboration with our other facilities to ensure all procedures are followed and shipments are on time.
• Performing other duties as required.
Qualification Criteria
The Operations Manager should possess:
• University degree in a Business, Engineering or Operations-related discipline preferred with 10+ years of experience in operations management
• Strong knowledge of the Maquiladora program
• Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to influence and develop effective relationships with colleagues and staff.
• Excellent language skills in Spanish & English (Must be fluently bilingual).
• Good leadership, team work, organization skills.
• Lean manufacturing expertise is an asset.
• Can be flexible and take on different assigned tasks to achieve organizational goals.
• Experience in working in an ISO environment
• Excellent knowledge of international import/export regulation and documentation required
