The Engineering Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, maintaining, and supporting all processes and equipment required for the production and manufacture of electronic circuit board assemblies and products. This includes, but is not limited to, SMT, wave, selective, and hand soldering; wire and cable assembly; manual and automated mechanical assembly; conformal coating, bonding, and other special processes; and box build.
Key Responsibilities
*
Lead and manage engineering teams across Manufacturing, Process, Test, and process development.
*
Implement Lean Manufacturing/TPS and Six Sigma practices.
*
NPI-Product Launching; Including Product Life cycle and Product Development Cycle for Electronic products.
*
Ensure compliance with ISO and IPC standards.
*
Support Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost improvement initiatives.
*
Develop and document all the process documents such as PFMEA, DFMEA, Visual Aids, Work Instructions, Equipment operation guidelines, 5S’s, etc.
*
Implement and justify automation projects.
*
Monitor and support existing processes, ensuring they are properly documented and understood by all users.
*
Perform equipment repair and maintenance and coordinate third-party equipment repair and maintenance.
*
Monitor and investigate process yields, and implement process and equipment improvements, including documentation and training.
*
Design and implement new processes for new customer requirements.
*
Develop and coordinate Test fixture and testing equipment development and acquisition, as required to support production processes, including End of line testing, In-Circuit testing and Device programming.
*
Coordinate and develop processes such as Optical and X-ray inspections for the different products.
*
Develop and coordinate delivery of custom tooling required to support production processes, including stencils, pallets, jigs, and fixtures.
*
Provide technical leadership to process engineers, manufacturing engineers, technologists, and technicians.
*
Fully responsible for Design for Excellence process, its use and implementation (DFM, DFT, DFSS, DFQ and other applicable techniques).
Skills & Knowledge
*
8–15 years’ experience in an electronics circuit board and product assembly environment.
*
Bilingual, fluent is a must, native preferable.
*
Working knowledge of SMT assembly (paste printing, oven profiling), through-hole assembly (wave profiling, hand soldering).
*
Good understanding of solder metallurgy.
*
Working knowledge of post-solder assembly processes (mechanical assembly, cable assembly, box build, conformal coating, gluing).
*
Experience in the operation and repair of various production equipment.
*
Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
Education & Experience
*
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent skills and experience.
