    Job Responsibilities

    • The Supplier Quality/Development Supervisor will work closely with the Senior Leadership of suppliers as well as Internal Plant Manager, Directors and Managers to ensure alignment in supplier performance and adherence to quality standards
    • This role is integral to achieving Global Supply Chain quality objectives and involves deploying best practices across the supplier quality engineering teams, particularly in areas such as supplier audits, supplier selection, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
    • In this role, the Supplier Quality Supervisor will be accountable for monitoring and reporting on supplier quality metrics, including Parts Per Million (PPM), Corrective Action Request (CAR) resolution cycle time, and Non-Conformance Report (NCR) reduction.
    • Advanced and Project Phases: Lead new projects with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with suppliers, manufacturing plants, and engineering for on-time PPAP submission approval with quality target encompassing all aspects of supplier readiness, 100% on time PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) + Capacity study/Run at Rate.
    • Proactively work with suppliers to minimize and/or eliminate launch issues
    • Report Supplier APQP progress/problems to Supplier Development Manager & launch team
    • Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met, and documentation is up to date and on file for components within assigned commodities
    • Serial Phase: Lead and facilitate the resolution of critical issues in serial production with suppliers. Lead SCAR/8D/5 Whys problem-solving team related to defective purchase components.  Work closely with suppliers, Mercury’s manufacturing plant, engineering, and procurement organization in root cause analysis and the timely implementation of interim and permanent corrective actions.
    • Lead and manage supplier escalation issues affecting Mercury Manufacturing Plants.
    • Perform supplier capability assessments as related to quality systems, process controls, manufacturing capabilities, and lean maturity.  Publish audit report outlining non-conformities, opportunities for improvement, and work closely with suppliers to plan/implement appropriate and timely corrective actions. 
    • Maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders/customers (Operations, Quality, SQE, Engineering) and promote a cross-functional approach.
    • Train suppliers in deploying quality systems tools and techniques such as SCAR problem solving, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PPAP, and Continuous Improvement.
    • Execute supplier continuous improvement activities
    • Perform suppliers’ audits- new assessment, process audits, and new launch audits.
    • Capture the supplier’s performance at the plan, propose continuous improvement activities, and report monthly.
    • Develop, improve, and document standardized global supplier development processes
    • Problem solving- Focus suppliers to improve PPM, Delivery, and quality
    • Selects, coaches, and develops staff
    • Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team
    • Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering progressive discipline when necessary

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution required, advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum 5- 7 years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, and/or supplier development.
    • Minimum of 3 years in plant operations preferred.
    • 2+ years prior managerial experience.
    • Expertise in problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies required.
    • Knowledge of quality systems, methods, and practices; ISO/AITF, APQP/PAPP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PPAP & Run at Rate.
    • Must be able to travel up to 35% of the time. 
    • Bi-lingual.  Fluent in English & Spanish is required.
    • CQE/Six Sigma Green/Black preferred.
